Why are funerals so depressing?

they're so sombre. I mean I understand that you're mourning the loss of a loved one.. I'm not saying people should stop crying and feeling sad about the loss but like if someone believes in the afterlife shouldn't a funeral be a bit like a celebration of them moving on to the afterlife..? Just wondering, because I was at a funeral earlier today & now I'm feeling pretty sombre :/
